Concept Building | Teheran

The concept for this building, United Colors of Benetton’s flagship store in Tehran, intends to combine the theme of the wind tower, that is a technical element typical for the local architecture, with the idea of an introverted sculptural space. While the materiality of the external body corresponds with the urban context, the heart of the interior spaces offers the visitor continuous perceptive glimpses of light and matter. The project was conceived in a stratigraphic logic, eliminating the idea of a plan and imagining the hollow body of the building as a single solid, excavated from the inside and eroded by the wind on the outside.
