Oasis for Young People and Family | Padova
The project of restoration and re-functionalization of a wing of the conventual complex of the Antonian Sanctuaries of Camposampiero in Padua has made it possible to implement a new room program. The program includes a reception space for families and youth ministry, a meeting place in operation throughout the year, spaces for conferences and meetings, occasions of conviviality, hospitality for pilgrims and a long-term residence for families.
The works involved a building that originally dates back to the early 1900s and was heavily remodeled over the decades with extensions and additions, gradually transforming it into a seminary until the early 2000s. The interventions carried out have always had a common denominator of both structural and architectural quality that kept the building in a good state of preservation until today.
The project involved the entire building, with heavy building works regarding structural, plant engineering and functional terms. New flexible space solutions have been combined with the rediscovering of traces of the original building, bringing to light the now exposed brick textures in chosen common areas. These brick pattern are a connecting element between the past and future of this place, bringing to live a patina of time that had been completely clouded over the decades.
